Back by popular demand, our queer Asian writer’s challenge had a double-bill slot with Same Same But Different’s queer poetry night to bring the gay agenda to the Basement Theatre.
This year, we dared four queer Asian writers to create the play they’d least want to write; in just three days. Each writer delivers a short duologue or monologue themed around the silly season, sealed in an envelope until showtime.
On the night, actors are cast from the audience for chaotic cold readings of each brand-new piece.
Hosted by Chye-Ling Huang and Sean Rivera, the result is the worst delivery of the queer agenda you've ever experienced. An experiment in queer joy, failure and some kind of silly spirit that embraces the hideousness of the season.
AUDIENCES SAID:
"It should be an institition! Honestly my favourite part of the silly season."
"I absolutely loved the chaotic energy of the show! It felt like anything could happen, and that made it all the more exciting."
"This show is exactly what we need! The rawness of the plays was such a vibe. So important to highlight these queer writers as we don’t often get a space to play."
"Seriously had so much fun watching this train wreck."
